You have fun!![]() Our 2006 Pedal & Park season gears up at Bike to Work Day (May 19) and the Broad Ripple Art Fair (May 20 & 21). Ride or skate to these events and park for free in our monitored corral. Many thanks to Ray Irvin![]() Ray Irvin’s career as a public servant recently took a new path as the former City of Indianapolis Greenways Administrator became director of Greenways and Bikeways for the Indiana Department of Transportation. Ray’s experience as a former City-County Councillor, Greenways Administrator and as one of the founding board members of the White River Greenways Foundation will certainly benefit all Hoosiers, not just those in Central Indiana. If Ray can do for Indiana what he has done for Indianapolis, then we’re all in for a real treat, or perhaps “ride.” Best of life is yet to be![]() Learn more about exercise, nutrition and wellness in the Greenways Foundation’s Lifestyle Fit! section. Building for the future![]() For many years, the Greenways Foundation has quietly worked to improve and promote trails and greenways in Central Indiana. We have supported and organized dozens of cleanups, planted countless trees and shrubs, installed benches and water fountains, sponsored art murals and Scout projects, and given grants to many worthwhile trail projects. It has been happy, satisfying work for our volunteer board and many supporters. As we look to the future, the Foundation is examining how its role can expand and support greenways and blueways throughout Indiana. It is an exciting time as we connect with trail supporters in other areas of the state and lay plans for both an increased public presence and an acceleration of financial support for trail projects. My daughter, Maggie, joins me in asking you to help build for the future and create a statewide trail system second to none. As this year unfolds, you will hear from us again with news about projects and how you can be involved. — Matthew T. Klein, President, Greenways Foundation |
