Their garden will grow

Watch for new beauty to sprout next to the Monon -- the Girl Scouts Urban Beautification Project is trailside, just north of 49th Street.

Across the trail is the location for this year's 49th Street Urban Arts Project on the Winthrop Supply building (the white building in the background). Together, these volunteer projects will make a spectacular vista for Monon users to enjoy.

"This community garden, created and maintained by the Girl Scouts, will showcase native Indiana flora," said Greenways Project Coordinator Jonathan Gick. "The project will enhance the neighborhood not only in beauty but different types of educational activities directed in the area."

This project began with the first plantings April 21, 2001, as part of the White River Clean-up and United Way of Central Indiana's Youth Day of Caring.

Indy Parks Greenways is interested in doing more youth projects on our trails. If your group has a project idea, please call Jonathan Gick at 327-2504 or send email to jgick@indygov.org.

The future garden spot measures about 100 feet by 30 feet.
