Town Run Trail Park maintenance

Monthly TRTP maintenance sessions (photos at left) have been ongoing. Our main focus this year has been twofold. First, it has been a brutal year on the trails (rain and the number of people riding the trail) and we have been removing some major mudholes and major water problems and we have been working on establishing two-way trails between the north and south loops.

The project to complete the two-way sections has been led by Taylor McKenzie (shown below) and is his Eagle Scout project. Taylor has been coordinating the effort and has had the help of some of his fellow scouts. During the last several weeks, Taylor has dedicated more than 30 hours of his own time, an equal effort from his father, and some help from his fellow scouts to make these trails for us. He has been removing trash and making trails along the river's edge and the side of the hill next to the houses. Perhaps you have even ridden on some of his work!

Monthly maintenance sessions take place on the first Sunday at 8:00 a.m. -- meet at the 96th entry parking lot. For more information, contact volunteer trail-boss Neal Schlatter, work phone (317) 276-1917, or send email to schlatter_neal_e@lilly.com.
